In honor of the new season of Love Island USA premiering last week, let’s throw it back to the season that had everyone’s heads turning – Season Six. Here’s my take on Love Island Season Six, but make it Major League Baseball edition.

Baseball is filled with passion, dramatic recouplings (aka trades), and more questionable decisions than anything we’ve seen at Casa Amor. This new season begs the question – if MLB teams were Islanders in Season Six, what would the Villa look like? Let’s gather ‘round the fire pit and match up baseball’s biggest teams with your favorite Islanders.
Los Angeles Dodgers - Kordell Beckham

It only makes sense to start out with one of our winners from Love Island Season Six and the 2024 World Series champs, the Los Angeles Dodgers. They’re basically MLB’s year-round all-star team, stacked with players like Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman. Although unexpected twists (such as pitcher injuries) might shake things up, the Dodgers have sky-high expectations, serious power, and know exactly how to play the game – just like Love Island's Kordell Beckham.
New York Yankees - Serena Page

The New York Yankees? They’re giving major Serena Page energy. Iconic, strategic, and always in the mix of a playoff berth. The Bronx Bombers have the rings, veteran vibes, and a legacy that speaks for itself. The Yankees may be stubborn and emotional, but they’re also elegant, competitive, and always in control – just like Serena who also won Love Island Season Six.
New York Mets - Kaylor Martin

Next up: the New York Mets – a perfect match for none other than Love Island’s drama queen herself, Kaylor Martin. The Mets are emotional and full of chaos, but this club has underrated power and wears their heart on their sleeves. They always start their season with high hopes…only to end in heartbreak. Sound familiar? Kaylor’s Casa Amor fallout with Aaron was basically the Met’s annual mid-season collapse in relationship form.
Houston Astros - Aaron Evans

The Houston Astros are a team with undeniable talent – and just enough controversy to keep everyone talking. They’re absolutely capable of winning and stealing the show…just like how they stole signs. Their 2017 cheating scandal mirrors Aaron Evans’ Casa Amor betrayal to Kaylor. Aaron entered the villa with all the charm and cool demeanor, but once he chose chaos, it was game over.
Chicago Cubs - Leah Kateb

The Chicago Cubs are MLB’s beloved underdogs – so naturally, they pair perfectly with “America’s Sweetheart,” Leah Kateb. Both are emotional, loyal, and deeply invested, but they also know when it’s time to walk away. Although Leah didn’t win Love Island USA like the Cubs did with their 2016 World Series win, she left the Villa with major growth and serious respect.
Boston Red Sox - Rob Rausch

The Boston Red Sox are chaotic, yet captivating and never predictable – similar to Love Island’s Rob Rausch. The Red-Sox bring all the drama with that love-hate MLB vibe: one minute, they’re winning the 2018 World Series (like Rob in a couple with Leah), and the next, they’re trading Mookie Betts – basically him switching up and choosing Andrea.
Ultimately, tying Love Island USA Season Six characters with MLB teams is a fun crossover to reveal their potential underlying personalities and strategies. Plus, all the chaos that comes along both on and off the field. At the end of the day, baseball is all about love, but just like Love Island, it has its fair share of heartbreak, too.
