On October 1, Jrue Holiday was traded to the Boston Celtics from the Portland Trail Blazers, to which he was traded on September 29.. The Portland Trail Blazers received Robert Williams III , Malcolm Brogdon, and a few future first round picks. Holiday is going into his 14th NBA career season and will play as a point and shooting guard with the Celtics.Holiday was drafted in 2009 by the Philadelphia 76ers, going 17th overall. Holiday was a member of the NBA All-Defensive team five times and has been an NBA All-Star twice in his career.
Holiday started his career with the 76ers in 2009, playing with them until 2013. He had many all time highs in his first few seasons, scoring a season high of 35 points against the New York Knicks in 2013. Holiday was then traded in 2013 to the New Orleans Pelicans. Sadly, his first season with them he had to sit out due to a tibia stress fracture. Holiday returned to play in January of 2015 to reach his 5,000th career point against the Washington Wizards.
A month later, Holiday was sidelined with a leg injury, missing 41 games before returning to play in April. Holiday went with the Pelicans to the playoffs, but lost in five games against the Warriors. In 2019, he got to play against his two brothers Justin and Aaron, who were on the Indiana Pacers at the time. He ended his season with the Pelicans in March with 35 points against the Minnesota Timberwolves .
In 2020, Holiday was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks, and re-signed with the Buck for 4 more years on a $160 million contract. In game six in of the 2021 NBA Finals, Holiday had 12 points, nine rebounds, and 11 assists to help the Bucks win the 2021 NBA championship, his first ever. Now in 2023, Holiday will be playing with the Boston Celtics.
Holiday has a good chance of starting with the Celtics, and will mostly likely playing with Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, and Kristaps Porzingis. The team has already started training and preparing to rack up some more wins this season. People already are talking about the Celtics after this trade, so the hopes are high for this upcoming season. They want a championship this year and with this powerhouse, it may just end up in their hands.
