Taylor Swift is one of the most beloved music artists right now, with her Eras Tour headlining one of the biggest tours not just this year but ever. Millions across the world enjoy her iconic hits. With the recent announcement of the release of 1989 (Taylor’s Version), I thought it would be fun to assign some of the hits from the album to MLB teams. Here is a breakdown of MLB teams with their 1989 songs!

"Welcome to New York" - New York Yankees

As the opening track of the 1989 album, the New York Yankees welcome you to New York as an iconic symbol of all the “Big Apple” has to offer – bright lights and big dreams.

"Blank Space" - San Diego Padres

Coming into the 2023 season, the San Diego Padres had high goals but fell short of achieving them. After making a NLCS run last season, the Friars have struggled to produce the same success as the previous season. Despite making big splashes in the offseason, many “blank spaces” remain left in the organization.

"Style" - Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers and their rich history are among the most beloved baseball teams ever. Their iconic franchise could simply never go out of style.

"Out of the Woods" - New York Mets

The Mets are known for having one of the most loyal fanbases. Still, just like Taylor describes her current relationship in this track, the Mets currently face a rocky relationship with their fans after failing to replicate a playoff-contending season in 2023.

"Shake It Off" - Kansas City Royals

The Royals are, yet again, having another incompetent season. If you asked their fans, they’d probably tell you it might become the “new normal” for them. Nonetheless, the fans continue to “shake it off” and hope to become a force in the future.

"Bad Blood" - Houston Astros

Although MLB’s investigation of the infamous Astros Cheating Scandal is long over, many baseball fans still have “bad blood” with the team’s actions that led to their first-ever championship in franchise history.

"Clean" - Texas Rangers

For the Rangers, it’s been a struggle of a decade. From being just a strike away from winning it all to dramatic losses in early playoff rounds, the fans have dealt with a lot of heartbreak and upset over the past several years. This season, things have turned around tremendously. Texas is now in the playoff hunt and is seemingly “clean” of incompetence.

"Wonderland" - Atlanta Braves

The Atlanta Braves have been on a historic run in 2023. They have been in their own little “wonderland”, seemingly always on a winning streak. Undoubtedly, the organization has built a powerhouse that is sure to attain success for years to come.

"New Romantics" - Baltimore Orioles

A fun new era has arrived for the Baltimore Orioles this past season. The team is loaded with young talent, and there’s more on the way. It appears the dark times are over, with nothing but a bright future ahead. It will be exciting to see how the young O’s compete in this new era.
