The 2025 NFL Season so far has Basically Been The Summer I Turned Pretty

The Summer I Turned Pretty just aired its finale, but the NFL is here to give us that same energy. We're two weeks into the 2025 season, and we've been served heartbreak, glow-ups, messy love triangles, and moments so insane that they have to have been scripted.
Heartbreak: Bengals and Belly

Bengals fans are in full heatbreak mode, just like team Conrad until this breath-holding finale. Joe Burrow isn't just banged up; he's out until December if they're lucky. With turf toe taking him out during the Bengals' home opener, fans are left holding their hearts and their fantasy teams the same way Conrad held onto his feelings for Belly, clinging to desperate hope. Even a 2-0 start to the season couldn't keep fans from mourning over losing Burrow; instead, they're praying for a miracle while Jake Browning steps into the role of trying to keep this season alive.
Loyalty Triangles: Which guy to Choose?

TSITP is built on choosing your guy and sticking by him no matter what, and Jets fans are in a similar position. Justin Fields has been ruled out for Sunday's game vs the Bucs due to concussion protocols, and the team has turned to Tyrod Taylor in his place. Taylor stepping in brings questions: do fans stick to Fields and the promises of what can be, or do they shift belief to Taylor? Other fanbases are facing similar picks; the decision doesn't just come down to wins, it's all rooted in loyalty, risk, and expectations. The same things Belly probably had to consider each time she picked a different brother to date.
Glow-Ups: Main Character Energy is Alive

2025's biggest glow-ups are here:
J.J. McCarthy is making himself known, with touchdowns and yet another injury that fans hope leads to a major comeback. He's kind of the football equivalent of season 1 Belly.
The Patriots finally woke up when facing the Miami Dolphins; the offense showed up when it really mattered, the same way Conrad was always there for Belly when she really needed him.
How bout' them Cowboys? They escaped a tight game versus the New York Giants in overtime and reminded us all that great story arcs need tension. Cowboys fans may just be yearning for a chance at the playoffs like Conrad yearned for Belly.
Finale Energy
TSITP may be over, but our season is just starting. Belly chose Conrad, and now it's time for football fans to choose. Do you stand by an injured starter or put your faith (and fantasy team) into someone new? Does an injured QB mean your season's over, or is there still playoff hope somewhere in your heart?
The NFL is less about scores, and more about who you believe in. And from what we've seen in just two weeks, this season's choices are going to matter more than ever.
