The length of the MLB season means that streaks can go on longer, that stats come into play, and that, most of all, division races can change drastically as teams go on hot or cold streaks. Let’s take a look at where each division stands as we head into June!

For the first time in 10 years, the Toronto Maple Leafs didn’t make the playoffs, and their subsequent reward for that was landing the first overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft. For a team that was nervous they wouldn’t even get a first round pick, first overall pick seems almost unbelievable. And in a draft class as stacked as the 2026 one is, we know Leafs fans are happy.

Though the Buffalo Sabres have had many good draft picks recently and have a roster studded with talent, for the past 14 years, they have been unable to make the playoffs. Their last appearance in the Stanley Cup playoffs was in 2010-2011, where they lost in the first round to the Philadelphia Flyers – 14 years ago. Their appearance in this year’s Stanley Cup playoffs feels long overdue, and thus, they have a little bit more motivation than the rest of us to go all the way.
