You may know Lewis Hamilton as one of the greatest Formula 1 drivers in history. With seven World Championship titles and the record for most race wins in the sport, it’s no surprise that he is well-known in this regard.
However, some may not know that the British driver is also a major influence in the fashion world. He began to make an impact by featuring iconic outfits during race weekends, and now he has secured a spot in one of the most elite events in the industry.
Hamilton, alongside Colman Domingo, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour, will co-chair the 2025 Met Gala. This is an incredible honor and testament to his influence in fashion.

This year, the first Monday in May will be May 5, and as usual, it will be a star-studded event. The Met Gala is full of celebrities showcasing exquisite and masterful designs from big-name designers.
While the art exhibit inside the museum is the main event, the extravagant looks on the carpet have become their own display, highlighting the immense talent that goes into apparel design.
The 2025 Met Gala dress code is “Tailored for You,” which coincides with the exhibit’s theme: “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” This marks the very first Met show to focus solely on Black designers, highlighting the trajectory of that style through dandyism.
With such a high-profile event, the invite list is extremely selective. Only the best get crowned, and it's clear that Hamilton has proved himself worthy with such an important role in this year’s event.
The British driver was invited to the gala for the first time in 2015, before he won his third World Championship with Mercedes. Ten years later, he stands alongside many other great talents as a Co-Chair, showing an example of the influence he has managed to make outside of racing.
His achievements, not just in fashion, paved the way for his invitation to such a prestigious event. However, we can’t talk about the Met Gala without looking back at some of Hamilton’s looks throughout the years.
Perhaps one of the most iconic Met Gala themes was 2018's “Heavenly Bodies,” which celebrated the Catholic faith and how it influenced fashion. Like many other celebrities, Hamilton dressed to impress, sporting an all-white Tommy Hilfiger suit complete with Loriblu shoes.

More recently, Hamilton’s look at last year’s gala caught the eyes of many fans, with him being one of the few male celebrities to test the limits of a typical suit and tie.
The dress code, “The Garden of Time”, highlighted the overarching themes of fleeting beauty, the passage of time, and the fragility of life. The Ferrari driver dove headfirst into research and chose to honor John Ystumllyn.
Ystumllyn was one of the first Black gardeners in the UK and overcame obstacles during the slave trade. Hamilton’s all-black ensemble incorporated gold thorns around his neck to represent the life of Ystumllyn and the pain he endured.
Stitched into his jacket was a poem titled “The Gardener,” which was inspired by Ystumllyn’s life, highlighting just how dedicated Hamilton was to accurately following the theme and showing respect for his culture and history.

Throughout his career, Hamilton has constantly pushed the boundaries of men’s clothing, and his fashion has influenced many people. Men aren’t subjected to one area of attire, and the British driver’s style is a testament to how those rules can be dismantled.
With the Met Gala approaching quickly, Hamilton’s look will be highly anticipated, and one can only wonder what he will come up with this year.
