Lebron James and the Lakers Make History

Lebron James is one of the most famous athletes in the world. James is now the first player to surpass 39,000 career points. No other NBA player has done this, and now the question is when will he hit 40,000 career points. The only other players that have scored 30,000 career points are Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387), Karl Malone (36,928), Kobe Bryant (33,643), Michael Jordan (32,292), Dirk Nowitzki (31,560), and Wilt Chamberlain (31,419).

The next player who is still active in the NBA that could reach the 30,000 career points milestone is Phoenix Suns player Kevin Durant. James started his career right out of high school, so some people would say that he had a bit of a head start on other players in the NBA. But as James is entering his 21st season in the NBA, he shows no signs of slowing down when it comes to scoring the basketball.

The Los Angeles Lakers are also having an amazing in-season tournament run with them still being one of the only teams to be unbeaten in the group play portion of the tournament. The Lakers starting five have proven that they are on a mission this season. D’Angelo Russel, Austin Reaves, Taurean Prince, Lebron James, and Anthony Davis are the starting players as of right now for the Lakers. Now that Anthony Davis and Lebron James are getting older, their playing minutes have gone down so that they can preserve their bodies for the rest of the long NBA season.

As of right now, the Lakers have won 9 of their 15 games this season so far. Since the Lakers are not trying to rely so heavily on James and Davis this season, players like Austin Reaves and D’Angelo Russel have stepped up in a big way.

Austin Reaves started to make a name for himself on the Lakers last season, and he now has proven that he is a vital asset to the Lakers. Reaves is not known for scoring a lot of points, but he does have the ability to make big shots when he has to for his team.

Another person that the Lakers have been relying on is D’Angelo Russel, and he has shown that he can score a big portion of the Lakers points along with his other teammates. Russel scored thirty- points and eight assists in his last game against the Utah Jazz.

The season is still early, and the Lakers have a long way to go before they have to be ready to perform for the playoffs. But if the team continues to play as well as they are in the in-season tournament, they are showing that the playoffs will not be a problem for them. The Lakers are going to have to keep relying on players like Russel and Reaves if they want to continue with this great season and keep Lebron James and Anthony Davis healthy for when they make their playoff run.
