The Mets and Yankees have been hot this past week, finally showing off the type of team everyone thought they would be coming into this season. While they’ve had their ups and downs, it appears that both clubs are ready to play to their full potential.
The Mets have won five in a row and look to keep that momentum going as they finish out a road trip with the Colorado Rockies this week. The Mets saw a home stand last week in which they went 5-1, winning a series against the seemingly unstoppable Tampa Bay Rays and concluding with a sweep of the Cleveland Guardians.
The Yankees are on a win streak of their own, winning 10 of their last 12 games, and have pushed themselves 10 games above .500. Having been one of the best teams in baseball in May, the Bombers have cut their deficit down to 5 games back in the stacked AL East.
Part of the success these two teams are having is their hitting. For the Yankees, their hot stretch has aligned with Aaron Judge’s return. The reigning MVP has been a considerable factor in the success the Yankees saw in Toronto and Cincinnati last weekend. As for the Mets, their hitting success has centered around Pete Alonso, who is on pace to hit 60 home runs this season.

The Mets also saw a big turnaround from their starting rotation. Mets starters posted a 2.61 ERA during the 5-game win streak. The Mets have yet to see a full rotation with all starters healthy, but they should see all of their starters healthy shortly.

While there have been reasonable doubts, it seems that both teams are finally starting to find their footing.
