Philadelphia Teams Success

There is no better time to be a Philadelphia sports fan than now!

If you pay attention to sports no matter where you live, you have probably seen the success of the four major Philadelphia teams: Phillies, Eagles, Flyers, and 76ers. Let's talk about each team and what they have accomplished this season.

As you might already know, the Phillies played in the World Series! The last time this team won the World Series was in 2008 against the Tampa Bay Rays. The Phillies did, unfortunately, lose in game six but they had an incredible season. In the regular season, the Phillies ended in third place in the NL East with a record of 87-75-0 which qualified them for the postseason. They then went on to the NL Wild Card Series where they won 2-0 against the St. Louis Cardinals. After that win, they went on to challenge the Atlanta Braves in the NL Division Series where they won 3-1. Their last challenge before they made it to the World Series was to play the San Diego Padres in the NL Championship Series where they won 4-1.

During the regular season, Kyle Schwarber led the Phillies in home runs with 46. The Phillies played multiple great pitchers this season with Jose Alvarado and Andrew Bellatti playing 59 games. Zack Wheeler played in 26 games but has the most wins with 12. During the postseason, Seranthony Dominguez has played in seven games and leads their pitchers, and he has two wins. Bryce Harper, Rhys Hoskins, and Kyle Schwarber each had six home runs in the postseason which lead this team during this time.

The Eagles have been dominating the NFL with all of their talents! The team is currently undefeated with eight wins. Jalen Hurts leads the team with 2,042 passing yards while RB Miles Sanders leads the team with 656 rushing yards. WR A.J. Brown has 718 receiving yards currently. On the defensive side of things, LB T.J. Edwards has 74 tackles to lead the team while C.J Gardner-Johnson has five interceptions. Jalen Hurts, Miles Sanders, and A.J Brown currently all have six touchdowns. Out of eight field goal attempts, Jake Elliott has made six of them, which is helping the team greatly. If this team continues to dominate, there is no doubt they won’t be in the postseason.

Even though the season for the Flyers has just started, they began the season with three wins in a row. Their current record is 6-3-2 and they are fourth right now in the Metropolitan division. Goalie Carter Hart had a fantastic start to the season and currently has 2.10 goals against average and a .943 save percentage. Last week, the 24-year-old goalie set a new career high with 48 saves against the Florida Panthers. This season, the Flyers got a new head coach John Tortorella with hopes that they can make it into the postseason. Unfortunately for this team, injuries are a factor given that James van Riemsdyk had surgery on his finger. Currently, Travis Konecny leads this team in goals with four while Kevin Hayes leads the team in assists with nine. Rebuilding is the main goal for this team as they try to make it to the postseason

The 76ers were undefeated in the preseason with four wins. Even though they are off to a bit of a slow start, they are all about rebuilding and getting better every day. Their record is currently 4-6. The team leader in points currently is PG Tyrese Maxey with 24.9. SG James Harden is leading the team with seven rebounds and 10 assists. SG De’Anthony Melton is leading in steals with two. Lastly, Tobias Harris is leading the team in blocks with 0.8. This team is also dealing with injuries as Joel Embiid and Matisse Thybulle are day-to-day. James Harden is approximately out for a month due to a right foot tendon strain. As long as they continue to work hard and rebuild, the team should end up successful.

Philadelphia is a huge sports city where the fans are known for their extreme passion and support of all of its teams. All of that support is what helps these teams succeed and continue to want to do great for their fans.
