Styled for Success: Adia Barnes’ Gameday Glamour

We’ve seen the players ball out in style. But what about coaches?

Many coaches across the world have traded the traditional game-day attire of coats, ties, and dress slacks for polos, quarter-zips, and warm-up pants. Adia Barnes is not one of those coaches to hand in her style for comfort.

Entering her 8th year as the head coach of the University of Arizona Wildcats Women’s Basketball team, Barnes is an icon coach. After returning to her alma mater in 2016, she has built the women’s basketball team into a fixture on the national stage of college basketball while developing her legacy as one of the top coaches in the sport.

And her style will always go out with a BANG! Let's look at her top three outfits from the season.

Let's Duel in the Desert. Who holds the throne? According to Barnes’ outfit, it’s the University of Arizona. The Wildcats swept the Sun Devils in the two meetings of the 2023-2024 season, and Coach B wasn’t all talk with her outfit during their first meeting.

Black jeans alone are a staple piece, but Barnes took it to the next level with the gold lightning bolt and “Unbreakable” reading down her pant leg. The Wildcats were unbreakable against rival school ASU.

But that’s not the only statement the coach made about her team. If it wasn’t the first thing you noticed, now it is. Her blouse with the crowns was a bold choice, but the Wildcats pulled through to back up her outfit.

Your royal highness, this Queen slayed.

All blinged out. Literally. From head to toe, Barnes shined in this gameday look. A matching two-piece set is a great outfit to wear. But what about an all-black sequin set while coaching basketball? It gets better, though. Let's add the matching sequin panda-inspired dunks. This classic boss lady outfit is hard to pull off, and Barnes had no problem doing just that.

Repping her alma mater’s colors and now the team she coaches. This outfit screams U of A. Her jacket is giving old-school bomber varsity jacket. And you can’t ask for more from her with the high-rise satin red cargo pants.

But what do all these outfits have in common? The slick-back ponytail. You can catch Coach Barnes in almost every game with the slick pony. The ultra-sleek hairstyle is ideal because it keeps it out of her face, but it’s also giving class.

Someone give this coach a model contract because she’s serving.
