San Jose, CA. — The US Open Tennis Championship is always the best time of the year. From iconic moments such as Roger Federer's five consecutive title wins and Serena Williams' six titles to the legendary Honey Deuce, the US Open Championship is a classic. In recent years, fashion has played a huge role in this famous event. There's something about tennis players revealing their on-court outfits as they're making their way out of the tunnel that brings anticipation to fans. Some might say that it's almost as if it were the Met Gala for tennis. Let's take a look at some of the best on-court outfits of the tournament.
Naomi Osaka

On August 26, Naomi Osaka played against Greet Minnen, defeating her in a score of 6-3, 6-4. Nike and Yoon Ahn created a beautiful clementine tennis set for Naomi Osaka. The tennis minidress included crystals on the top and middle of the dress, and also featured a bubble skirt. She even brought out a crystalized jacket that matched the tennis minidress. One of the fan-favorite moments has been the custom bedazzled Labubu clipped to her duffel bag. For this match, she brought out a red Labubu that was holding a tennis racket, known as Billie Jean Bling. Osaka also wore bright red bedazzled headphones and crystalline roses in her hair, but it didn't stop there; she had the matching shoes that completed the look. This on-court set was creative and perfect for a night game.
Venus Williams

On August 19, Venus Williams played in a mixed doubles tournament with Reilly Opelka, where they were eliminated in the first round. Williams' dress was curated by her stylist, Ronald Burton, in collaboration with the brand Khaite. Williams arrived on the court wearing a navy dress with white linings around the neckline, the sleeves, and the bottom of the dress. To match her set, she wore Lacoste Tech Point Tennis Shoes, accompanied by a white visor that Khaite also designed. This outfit was elegant and gave off minimalistic vibes, but it looked so classy at the same time. The look reminded me of the vintage tennis dresses we used to see.
Carlos Alcaraz

On August 25, Alcaraz debuted in an eggplant purple set by Nike. He rolled onto the court with an eggplant jacket, wristbands, shorts, shoes, and a tank top. His debut outfit gave David Beckham vibes when he came onto the pitch with a buzz cut. Alcaraz is known for being loud, and this outfit gives just that.
Apart from the outfit being a fun color that stood out, his hair played a huge role in making the on-court debut of this look. Alcaraz showed up to his first-round match with a buzzcut that shocked the tennis world. Many of his fans are aware that he tends to cut his hair prior to a tournament, and see his hair growth by the end of it. While he always goes for a short look, no one ever thought he would go for a buzz cut. It brought such an uproar in the tennis community, as people were shocked by his new hair. Even players such as Naomi Osaka and Jannik Sinner were asked by the media what they thought about the look.
Jack Draper

On August 25, Jack Draper came onto the court with his first outfit from Vuori, one of his sponsors. Draper wore a white hat with white shorts, a dark grey tank top, and a black arm sleeve. The shorts also had different sections between the grey and white, which gave off some creativity but kept it neutral. I also like how the sleeveless look makes it so we can see his tattoo. One of my favorite things about the set is that it looked simple, yet elevated at the same time.
Aryna Sabalenka

Aryna Sabalenka wore a white tennis dress by Nike on August 25. The neckline of her dress has a grey lining as well as a triangular cut on her waist, with the colors black and pink. The white never gets old as it’s a timeless and classic look, but also offers a unique twist on the traditional white aesthetic. My favorite part of the look, which could have been intentional, is the jewelry. She has three necklaces layered perfectly, and they tie the whole look together. One of the necklaces looks to be a blue eye; the other one is similar to a choker with seven pear-shaped diamonds, and it has one imperial topaz. Lastly, she is also wearing a pink tourmaline necklace. Overall, the jewelry really helped to elevate her Nike set, completing the look as a whole.
With the tournament ending, these have been the top five looks. What do you think? Are there better on-court outfits? Who would you want to see on the list? Let me know what you think!
