Shopping for athletic apparel can sometimes feel like a nightmare. Many major retailers expect customers to pay a large amount of cash for sub-par designs. Here are the best places to shop to update your wardrobe:
1. Poshmark & Depop
The online version of a thrift store! Similarly to thrift stores, there’s potential to find one-of-a-kind pieces at a more reasonable price. While more expensive than a thrift store, Poshmark and Depop can also be easier to navigate due to their search features, which is a huge benefit if you’re shopping for something specific. I was able to find a new-with-tags Jack Hughes women’s jersey for below face value on Poshmark, which was a huge steal considering Hughes is currently one of the most popular players in the NHL.
2. Etsy
Etsy is similar to Poshmark and Depop in the sense that you can find thrifted apparel, but you can also find more one-of-a-kind pieces created by small businesses! One of my favorite hoodies in my closet is my custom hockey hoodie created by UniveristyShop! They were able to incorporate my favorite team with my sorority letters so I can represent both with pride. Other shops include LegendFoxVintage, Flashbackstoreth, and thedallasfamily. It’s super easy to search for specific items on Etsy, so you never know what gem you’ll find!
3. Thrift Stores
There’s no better way to find extremely reasonably priced sports merchandise than to hit up your local thrift store! Not only will you be saving money, but you’ll also find some one-of-a-kind pieces. Goodwill, Savers, and Red White and Blue Thrift Stores are just a few of brick and mortar shops worth checking out. A possible drawback is that you might only find teams local to your area, or even nothing at all. If you do go the thrift store route, it’s beneficial to check the men's section in addition to the women’s. The kids section could surprise you as well!
4. Homage
Homage’s specialty is Vintage style clothing that covers not only several sports, but also pop culture moments. It’s here where you can find some of the best designs related to WWE and Soccer. While some are simple, that means they’ll also be staple pieces in your wardrobe for seasons to come.
5. BreakingT
BreakingT provides apparel for every sport you could think of from F1 Racing to the Olympic games. The designs are humorous as well as trendy, and are so easy to style with pieces that are already in your closet.
6. 500 Level
500 Level is similar to BreakingT, with, in my opinion, a lot more flexibility. 500 Level offers creative designs on products that fit everyone you can think of! From newborns to grandparents, there’s something for everyone. You can find shirts from 500 Level in the athleticwear section of my closet, as I love throwing on their tees to head to the gym. The quality is super amazing and they wash up well!
7. Girls Club
I couldn’t write about apparel without including Girls Club’s own store! The BEST place to get your women in sports merchandise is Girls Club. Functional pieces are available for you to wear while you’re working hard making a name for yourself in the sports world. You can shop our merch here!
