Harbaugh is a well known name in football, especially after this year's National Championship; coach Jim Harbaugh led the University of Michigan football team to victory. However, the Harbaughs have been in the game for a while, and not just Jim. John and Jack Harbaugh have also made their mark in the football world with National Championships and Super Bowls from father and brother. The Harbaugh family has an outstanding coaching record and quite a collection of trophies with the recent addition of Michigan’s national title.
Jim Harbaugh most recently won the College Football Playoff national championship with his team, the University of Michigan Wolverines. Shortly after his first national title, Harbaugh took a head coaching position with the Los Angeles Chargers. Harbaugh is not new to the Chargers, as he played for the team during his NFL career after playing for the Wolverines while in college. Before playing for the Chargers, Harbaugh had a Pro Bowl season with the Colts and also earned AFC Offensive Player of the Year honors. Needless to say Jim is quite a coaching asset and many football fans wonder if 2024-2025 will be the season for the Chargers with the addition of Jim Harbaugh.
John Harbaugh, Baltimore Ravens head coach suffered a heart wrenching loss to just miss a shot at another Super Bowl. Harbaugh has been the head coach of the Ravens since 2008 and earned his Super Bowl ring to end the 2012 season where he played his brother Jim. It was the first time in NFL history that two brothers would coach against each other in a Super Bowl matchup. John Harbaugh was on the winning end. Unlike his brother, John did not play in the NFL. Harbaugh played college football at Miami University in Ohio and went on to coach for the team after he graduated.
Father of John and Jim, Jack Harbaugh has had many of his own football achievements. Harbaugh played his college football career at Bowling Green State University where his team finished 9-0 in his third year. After coaching at a collection of high schools, Jack went on to head coach Western Kentucky University and even went on to win a national championship with the team. Harbaugh is now often seen supporting his sons' teams, starting chants in the locker room before games and celebrating both of their successes.
