Every NHL offseason feels endlessly long, with fans and analysts alike turning to preseason predictions to pass the time. Some teams are penciled into playoff spots, while others are written off before opening night even begins. But as the season unfolds, the NHL has a way of humbling expectations. As the Olympic break approaches, four teams have rewritten the narrative of their seasons, emerging as genuine threats and forcing the league to take notice.

With two months into the 2025-26 National Hockey League season, there have been numerous players who are bringing in new energy and skill across the league. As we start to head into the middle of the NHL season and the upcoming 2026 Olympics, let’s take a look at how these rookies have made their mark.

Her job entails covering the team day-to-day and writing for the team website. During the season she covers each practice, game, and event that the team does and she writes features. During the offseason she continues to cover events, attends meetings for the upcoming season, does in-person reporting, and interviews.
