2025 NCAA Leotards That I Give a Perfect 10

Courtesy of Rose Fernandes, Maryland Terrapins

I don’t know about you, but when I’m watching gymnastics, the first thing I’m drawn to is the leotards. And in the NCAA, teams get the chance to combine elegance and school spirit in their leos, and of course, they are not complete without a little bit of sparkle. Many teams debuted new leos this season and were creative in how they honored their school, location, and legacy.

Here are my favorite leos that made their debut this season (including what I deem to be my all-time favorite leo).

50th Anniversary Leo, Utah

Courtesy of Utah Gymnastics

Utah honored its program’s 50th anniversary by debuting this new, unique leo. I love the vintage sporty look on the front, but I especially love the inclusion of the gymnasts’ names on the back, giving it a jersey feel. It’s such a beautiful leo and is perfect to symbolize 50 years of a dominant gymnastics program.

The Legacy Leo, Penn

Courtesy of Penn Gymnastics

Penn has debuted several stunning leos over the past several years, and The Legacy Leo is the perfect addition to that collection. Penn’s colors look gorgeous together, and I love that they incorporated both evenly in this leo. First worn in the Ivy Classic, the use of different textures, the geometric design on the top, and the perfect amount of sparkle give this leo a very regal look.

Icy Valley, Penn State

Any team can have a white leo, but not many teams can make one as elegant and still school-spirited as Penn State’s. I love that the leo still looks like a Penn State leo, with its inclusion of the primary navy blue color and Nittany Lion logo. My favorite part of this leo, and something I haven’t seen before, is the mesh going down the top of the sleeves, it’s the perfect detail to tie the whole look together.

Transcendence, Clemson

Courtesy of Clemson Gymnastics

One of the newer teams in the NCAA, Clemson, has already become known as a team with rather unique and bold leos. This leo, though, is just perfect! I love that the team uses their logo front and center, and I love that in this leo (and many of their other leos), they incorporate both of their colors in an ombre design on the bottom, on the sleeves, and in the rhinestones. With how bold Clemson’s colors are, a more simple leotard design like this one works so perfectly for them.

SEC Championship Leo, Oklahoma

Courtesy of Oklahoma Women’s Gymnastics

Oklahoma’s leo is a beautiful crimson color and lets the rhinestone and sparkle do all the talking. I love the rhinestone design and detail. It’s a simple yet dazzling leo, was perfect for their first SEC Championship, and to top it off, it looked stunning on TV.

The Spurrier Leo, Florida

Courtesy of Morgan Hurd and Gators Gymnastics

Florida’s leos are normally more subtle in their school spirit, they’re usually a classic Gators blue or have a scale design incorporated on them. Named after Steve Spurrier, former Gators football player and head coach, The Spurrier Leo really showcases school pride with its big Gator logo on the front, and I love it. The smaller details are just as Gatory, with both blue and orange on the straps and down the back, scales throughout the base, and orange football-inspired stripes on the sleeves.

The Eclipse, Nebraska

Courtesy of Nebraska Women’s Gymnastics

Nebraska’s leos are usually bright and vibrant, which makes this one so different for them. The deep red, rhinestone designs, and variety of rhinestone sizes give this leo a dramatic and elegant look. Nebraska’s caption on their post debuting The Eclipse leo says “dark mode activated,” and their turn to the dark side wasn’t a bad thing!

UC-LV, UCLA

This leo is so simple yet so classy. The dark blue base is so true to classic UCLA looks, and I love that gold rhinestones are used on the front and on the mesh sleeves to bring the leo to life. These leos were beautiful in person, and the light caught the sparkles perfectly at the Big Ten Championship.

Royalty, Michigan State

Michigan State debuted this leo last year, but I’m counting it for this year because it marks a turning point for their gymnastics program. The leo’s first appearance was when the Spartans won their first Big Ten Championship title, and it returned at the beginning of this season, which would come to be their best season in program history. Their shade of green is gorgeous and looks so stunning paired with black. I also love how the rhinestones make the green top pop while also having their own moment on the sleeves.

Dare to Bloom, George Washington

Courtesy of George Washington Gymnastics

I can’t express just how excited I was when George Washington debuted a leo with cherry blossoms on it! I love that the flowers are incorporated throughout, both in the material and in rhinestones. It so perfectly ties to the school’s location, and also has a true GW look to it.

Tiger DNA, LSU

Courtesy of LSU Gymnastics

I’m actually a little surprised with how much I love this leo with how busy it is, and I think its uniqueness is what has drawn me to it. LSU pulls off this asymmetrical, geometric design so beautifully. I love that even with the different design on the back and triangles throughout, it still very much feels like an LSU leo with the tiger stripes, regal purple, and of course, all of the bling.

The Aztec Leo, Illinois

Courtesy of Illinois Women’s Gymnastics

Illinois has many leos I love and this new one is no exception. I love the intricate detail of the rhinestones on the top part of the leo, and I think the belt design works really well on this one, especially as it matches the sleeves. The use of both of Illinois’ colors as well as the “I” logo on the front make this leo perfect.

Royal Arches, Pitt

Courtesy of Pitt Gymnastics

Pitt’s inspiration for this leo is so unique; it’s influenced by the architecture of the Cathedral of Learning, an iconic building on their campus. With the base of the leo in Pitt’s signature blue, I love that they use their secondary color of yellow to make the arch designs that match the arches of the Cathedral. It’s an incredible and beautiful inclusion of a part of the school.

Maryland Pride, Maryland

Courtesy of Maryland Gymnastics

I am so obsessed with this leo. I love that the Terps used Maryland’s state flag and used rhinestones to make the flag. The best part about this leo is how simple it is, with a black base and black mesh sleeves, which really allow the flag to be the star of the show. This is so proudly a Maryland leo, and it was an instant favorite for me.

Velvet Noir, Mizzou

Courtesy of Mizzou Gymnastics

It’s a perfect 10! I’m not being dramatic when I say this is my favorite NCAA gymnastics leotard of all time. It has everything I’m looking for in a college leo: it’s loud and proud with its school logo, it has rhinestones in school colors and it has just the right amount of sparkle to it, and it’s velvet. It’s a true Mizzou leo and is simply stunning.
