Over the past five years, the sports media landscape has undergone drastic developments—one of the most notable shifts being the rise of the sports influencer.

After records across sports were shattered in 2024, women's sports continued to be on the rise in 2025, leading to more national coverage, higher viewership and attendance, and crucial long-awaited expansion. This past week I had the amazing experience of speaking with Rachel Luscher. Rachel is the Digital Media Coordinator for the New York Islanders. Her job entails covering the team day-to-day and writing for the team website. During the season she covers each practice, game, and event that the team does and she writes features. During the offseason she continues to cover events, attends meetings for the upcoming season, does in-person reporting, and interviews.

The U.S. Championships take place this weekend in New Orleans. This event, the most important domestic meet of the season, will determine the U.S. National Team and lead to the selection for the team heading to Worlds. Here are five gymnasts to watch in this year’s Championships.

Cleveland is officially getting a WNBA team, somebody pinch me right now! For the first time since 2003, Cleveland will be home to a major professional women’s team.
